Donations to Health Care

David Braley, owner of a Canadian professional football team, is donating $5 million to a hospital. The hospital is using most of it to create new operating rooms. If we truly need these new operating rooms, why isn’t our government creating them?

More HOV Lanes

More HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lanes are coming to the GTA. Good.
I use GO every workday, and I have even used it to get to Toronto on the weekend, leaving my car at home or at a local park-and-ride. I totally agree with making things easier (faster) for the GO system, and keeping the price [...]

Guns

A 15 year-old killed in the halls of his Toronto school. A first.
Some of the reactions are, of course, knee-jerk. Ban guns. Well, yes, that would be great, but you’ll never get the U.S. on board, and you’ll also never dry up the supply chains.
No, I probably don’t have the answers, but to me [...]

And You Thought Starbucks Served High End Coffee

How about $40 a cup coffee? Now that’s high end coffee.

McDonald’s has started a movement to have the [...]

Credit Cards and 4 Year Olds

A co-worker, upon reading about my granddaughter’s credit card application, suggested that Jasmine should pick up her favourite crayon, fill in the application, and mail it in.

Gas Prices

Market pressures, my foot!
It is market pressures to increase margins on a permanent basis, that’s what it is. Even OPEC is complaining about our gas prices.

Junk Mail

I have heard about these things, and now I have seen it for myself. Today’s mail brought an envelope addressed to Jasmine, my 4-1/2 year old granddaughter. She can’t read yet, so her mom opened it and read it.
It was a Capital One MasterCard Application Form.
At least they had an appropriate check box in the [...]
