One More Step

A co-worker (MLR for purposes of this posting) is moving to another position and there was a cake and coffee get-together for her the other day. The cake had a clown theme, relating to MLR’s outfit last halloween. A number of people showed up. They drank the coffee and ate pieces of cake. The guest [...]

Drew Carey. Come on Down!

Or should it be Rosie O’Donnell?
Drew and Rosie are both being talked about as a replacement for retired Bob Barker on the Price is Right.
I wonder who VS would pick?

Farewell Stargate SG-1

My favourite sci-fi program of all time, even better that Star Trek with Kirk, Bones, Scotty, and Spock, ended tonight. Ten seasons, a record for a sci-fi series. Richard Dean Anderson of McGyver fame was Colonel O’Neil, although he stopped playing a regular part several years ago.
I am going to miss it next season, although [...]

Frisbee turns 50

I have had many hours of fun attempting to launch the perfect frisbee flight. I don’t remember when I owned my first one, but it would have been before it turned 10 years old. At one point I was even hoping to play in a Frisbee Football league, but that never happened.
Happy Birthday Frisbee.

Mile High Club, mini version

Initial suspicion is that a couple was having some extra-curriculur activity on a roof, when they fell 15 metres to their death. They are believed to be in their early 20’s.

Not Fly in the Ointment; Fly in the Bottle

A man from Windsor, Ontario, was awarded $341,775 after discovering a fly in a bottle of water. The situation supposedly triggered an intense phobia of flies and killed his sex life.
Subsequently, an appeal by the water company stripped him of that award. Now, the Supreme Court of Canada has granted the man the right to [...]

New Gaming Deal for First Nations

Ontario is proposing a new deal for Aboriginals that will see their communities share about $125 million a year for 20 years. Humans are notorious for squandering free money. You can see it in kids, and you can see it in adults. If the First Nations people can take that money and actually transform their [...]

Miss Coppertone

Remember the ads that Coppertone ran where a small dog was tugging at the bathing suit bottom of a young girl? Well, they’ve brought that ad up-to-date and removed all possible sexual connotations. Now the dog is shown just playing with her, not tugging at her clothing.

Cell Phone competition in Canada

Interesting full-page ads by Quebecor about lack of competition in the Canadian cell phone industry. At the same time, a 1/2 page article in one of our local papers lamented the same topic. One of the Quebecor ads states that Canada used to be #1 in the world in wireless usage. Now we are #29 [...]
