7-7-7

Today is the big day that many couples have been looking forward to. 7-7-7. The 7th day of the 7th month of the 7th year of this century.

The number 7 seems to be associated with good luck in many parts of our culture. Even Christendom considers 7 a good number. I overheard a number of people yesterday saying they were headed to a casino today. Not that I encourage that particular way of celebrating 7-7-7, but what are your plans?

hi richard… i don’t understand why 7 is such a lucky number at all… in chinese it’s the number 8 because when it’s pronounced a little off… it sounds like the word “fortune” and so chinese people love 8… so what’s the significance of 7?

That’s a good question, Jess. I, and I am sure many others, have just grown up accepting the fact that some cultures think 7 is lucky.

Maybe this is why there were so many weddings scheduled for this date! [Yep. That’s it. GR]
