Commentary on News Sites

The Globe and Mail’s website ( http://www.theglobeandmail.com/ ) allows reader comments on many of its stories. Reading these can cause you to laugh or maybe express some naughty words.

I read their story about yet another political candidate who has resigned over inappropriate material coming to light. In this case it was a racy photo on a Facebook account. ( see story at http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090419.wbcphoto20/BNStory/politics/home some of the comments are hilarious )

Many of the people who left comments complained that this was a stupid reason to quit, especially since this candidate supposedly has a lot of energy and ideas.

My comment was basically this. If you NEED my normally conservative leaning vote, then you better appeal at least somewhat to my conservative nature. Racy photos do not do that. If, however, you do not NEED my vote, then do whatever you want.
