need me to care for your sick loved one?

An awesome piece of investigative reporting detailed in The Star today. Unlicensed schools seem to be operating with impunity, even in areas like Personal Support Workers.

These are the people who work with society’s most vulnerable in hospitals, nursing lodges, community care centres and private homes. They empty catheters, insert suppositories, manoeuvre mechanical lifts, and do other chores for their patients. It is supposed to require over 700 hours of in-class and clinical experience, but the school that was investigated was handing out certificates and job advice after only 2 weeks.

I am sure that the appropriate department in the Ministry of Education will be buzzing today. Our Premier already has his hands full with expense scandals, and now this.
