Political Will is Weak

I love this quote from a Globe and Mail article titled “A world awash in debt“.

Governments have been long aware that trouble is looming, but have struggled to muster the political will to do little more than postpone the threat.

Although the article is about debt, the quote is applicable to almost every serious policy out there. Whether it be senior care, or public housing, or infrastructure in major centres, or a myriad of others, I have seen it regularly in my 40 years as a voting adult.

They see it coming. Their experts tell them it is coming. They do nothing until it has arrived.

Classic Reactive knee-jerks, versus Proactive planning and action.
