Spam King Wins on Appeal

A former spam king in the U.S. has won an appeal of his conviction. The court agreed with Jeremy Jaynes’ claim that the anti-spam law violates free speech protections under the First Amendment.

Although I have not read the actual ruling, that makes me shake my head in disbelief. Sure, maybe the sentence (9 years in jail) was a bit harsh, but what he did is wrong. Because I have my own websites, I get LOTS of spam. I pay a company to help stop most of it before it gets to my inbox, and that is wrong.

Not only that, I get lots of email because some low life uses my email address as the return address on his spam. Whatever it takes for a spammer to circumvent the system, they will do, and they do not care if it costs me time and/or money.
