Women still making less despite learning more

That is a title from today’s Globe and Mail. The article is based on a Stats Canada study, and along with dozens of readers who left comments, it is a simple case of comparing apples to oranges. Where I work, you are paid based on your responsibility levels and lots of women make good money. In fact, in the past 5 years all my managers have been female, and they easily beat me in the whose paycheque is better category.

If you just took the part of the survey that compared equal jobs with equal experience, I’d bet that the gap is way smaller than they claim.

As more than one reader pointed out, many women are getting a higher education, but they often choose areas of study thathas always paid less, even when more men were in those areas.
