A Serious Lapse In Judgment

What do you think when you hear that phrase from a politician?

“A serious lapse in judgment.”

giambroneThe latest to say that is a young (33 in March 2010) mayoral candidate Adam Giambrone of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He stated it in response to news of him having an inappropriate relationship with a young woman. Basically, he was having some fun with 2 different ladies, without either knowing about the other.

Do we want a mayor who has serious lapses in judgment, or do we even care anymore about a man’s sexual indiscretions?

Personally, I am old fashioned. The Good Book says to be the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach. Well, Adam is not married to either of them, but really guys, you should just have one at a time if you are going to fool around. Women do not like sharing, and best to not rile them in this way. Not wise. And we want wise men to lead us.

Okay. That’s my opinion. What’s yours? Leave a comment.

If he isn’t married or exclusive to either of them, I don’t see the problem….in this day and age, we call that dating.

[GR replies: The newspaper makes it sound like he was exclusive to the one that was at his mayoral race entry party]

Simple anthropology. Men’s procreative strategy is to service as many women as possible. Women, on the other hand, want to secure all a man’s resources solely for themselves and their offspring.

Admittedly, this is a simplistic distillation, but men’s and women’s innate behaviours are largely predicated on these simple facts.
