Internet Throttles

One of the suppliers of Internet services in my area has been accused of unnecessarily throttling internet traffic, specifically traffic from peer-to-peer services. They claimed that only a small percentage of their clients were slowing down the system for everyone.

Grandpa Richard’s take on this matter? Determine a reasonable level of downloads for 90% of the customers and change the service agreement to make that a limit. Everything over that costs more. So what if those 5-10 % of your clients leave? At least the rest of us will be happier as there will be less traffic getting in our way.
