Witchcraft Still Illegal

According to this item in the Globe and Mail, it is still an offence to pretend to exercise or to use any kind of witchcraft, sorcery, or enchantment or who undertakes, for a consideration, to tell fortunes … is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

Basically, our lawmakers, back in 1892, wanted to ensure witchcraft wasn’t used as a cover for fraud. That is the basis for the charges in this case, where someone is alleged to have defrauded another person of as much as $100,000.
